Marble laying
Marble installation is a complex process that requires a high level of skill and experience from the master.
- Preparation. The surface on which the marble will be laid must be prepared. If it’s a floor, the surface must be leveled and ready for tile installation. If it’s a wall, the surface must be cleaned of dust and ready for work.
- Tile layout. Before starting the installation, it’s necessary to lay out the marble tiles on the floor or wall to determine the required amount of tiles and choose the best layout option.
- Adhesive preparation. Special adhesive is used for marble installation. It must be ready for use according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Tile installation. The adhesive is applied to the surface where the tile will be laid using a notched trowel. The tile is laid on the adhesive and slightly pressed. Gaps are left between the tiles for grouting.
- Tile cutting. When installing marble tiles, cutting is necessary to ensure accuracy of size and proper installation. Cutting can be done with a saw or other tools, as well as using special ceramic knives.
- Grouting. After the tiles are laid, the gaps between them must be filled with grout. A special tool – a rubber float – is used for this, which allows filling the gaps and smoothing the surface.
- Polishing. After the grout is dried, the surface must be polished to remove excess grout and achieve a smooth surface.
It’s important to remember that each type of marble has its own characteristics and requires an individual approach. It’s recommended to consult experienced specialists for marble installation as part of renovation work.
